Hi! I’m Gillian McAinsh, a freelance writer, editor and content creator. I’m a veteran newspaper journalist who has embraced the amazing digital media world.
Since leaving The Herald and Weekend Post in July 2019 this has involved fields such as academia, fashion, health and wellness and commerce.
Specific projects have included planning and implementing multi-media publicity strategies, presenting a writers’ workshop, creating and editing content for several university publications, designing graphics and animations, taking photos and shooting video for clients’ social media channels … and then there is ghost writing, blogging, social media management and administration, proof-reading and mentoring.
Actually, I have such diverse interests that I’m pretty much up for anything! I also am active in the NGO and charity sector in Nelson Mandela Bay.

5/5 would recommend. Enlisting Gillian's enthusiastic and professional assistance calmed my nerves as she crafted a path into the market that worked. People want more of this event because of her ability to engage.” - Steven Lancaster, ONE12run
Gillian is a seasoned, talented professional with impeccable writing and editing skills - and that’s just for starters. Her sharp eye for detail (a rarity in today’s slap-dash copy editing space), makes her an obvious and guaranteed asset on any project.” - Beth Cooper-Howell, Woman on Top
